Terms of service

The agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and Bytefount Limited, of The View, General Mathenge Road, Spring Valley, Westlands, Nairobi, Kenya (postal address: P.O. Box 48620-00100, Nairobi, Kenya), for your use of Portage. By creating a workspace or using Portage you accept them. If you use it for an organisation, you accept them on its behalf and confirm you may do so.

What Portage does, and doesn't

Portage reads the job postings employers publish on their own job boards, and postings you paste in, compares them with the profiles you create, and shows you the evidence for each fit.

Visa routes: for your target countries, Portage shows the requirements of official visa routes, quoting the government pages they come from, and which of them your profile appears to meet. This is information, not immigration or legal advice. Portage does not prepare, file or handle visa or citizenship applications and never contacts immigration authorities. Confirm every requirement with the official source or a registered adviser before you rely on it.

Applying: when you ask it to, Portage reads an employer's application form, fills it with answers you have written or approved, and shows you a preview. It submits a form only after you approve exactly those answers, once, under your name, and never sends anything else. Some forms, for example those that ask you to sign in, need you to finish them yourself. Portage never contacts employers in any other way.

We don't write the postings and can't promise they are accurate, current or still open. A match is not an offer, and Portage never tells you your chances of being hired. It never assumes an employer sponsors visas: always confirm visa, work permit and immigration requirements with the employer and the relevant authorities.

AI features can be wrong. Portage keeps an AI reading only where it can quote the source text, marks it as AI-read, and never presents it as verified. Check anything important against the original posting.

Your account

You must be at least 16. Keep your password safe and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens in your workspace, including what members you invite do there.

Your content

What you put into Portage stays yours. You give us permission to store and process it only to provide the service to you, as our Privacy notice describes. You can export all of it at any time, and delete it.

Only add information about other people, such as a candidate you coach, if you have the right to do so.

Acceptable use

Don't:

• Use Portage to collect other people's data, or to scrape, resell or republish job postings in bulk.
• Try to reach another workspace's data, probe for vulnerabilities, or get around plan limits.
• Put unlawful, harmful or deceptive material into Portage, or use it to break anyone's rights.
• Overload the service or interfere with other people's use of it.

Plans and limits

The Free plan is free for as long as we offer it. Paid plans add capacity and AI actions as described on the Pricing page. If a paid plan ends, nothing is deleted: the workspace returns to the Free plan's limits, anything over them stays readable, and you can't add more until you are within them again.

Payment

Our payment provider sells Portage subscriptions to you as merchant of record, and its terms apply to the payment itself; checkout shows the price in your currency with any taxes. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until cancelled. Team is priced per member. We'll give at least 30 days' notice before any price increase applies to you.

Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel at any time from Plan & billing and keep your plan until the end of the paid period. Refunds follow our Refund policy, including a full refund on request within 14 days of your first payment.

Availability

We work to keep Portage available and your data safe, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted service. Job boards can change or disappear without notice, and we may add, change or remove the sources we read.

Suspension and ending

You can stop using Portage and delete your workspace at any time in Plan & billing. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, telling you why unless the law prevents it, and we will give you a chance to export your data first unless doing so would cause harm.

Disclaimer

Apart from what these terms say, Portage is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by contract.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost job opportunities, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We don't exclude liability that cannot be excluded by law, such as for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya. Please contact us first so we can try to settle any dispute informally. If you are a consumer, you may also bring a claim in the courts where you live.

Changes

We may update these terms. We'll publish the new version here and email account owners at least 30 days before a material change takes effect. Continuing to use Portage after that means you accept it.
